Chess instead of drugs
Today in Moscow the Federal Service of drugs turnover control headed by S.Cherkesov and FIDE (President K.Iljumzhinov) will sign a treaty of collaboration aimed at the general introduction of chess into Russian people’s way of life and the undertaking of joint actions to prevent illegal drugs consumption.

Karpov is rewarded according to his deserts
The President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko presented the order “For Merits” of the second degree to Anatoly Karpov who is the Chairman of the Trustee Council of the international organization “Chernobyl – Help”. In the years 1989 - 2006 the twelfth World Champion has collected for organization’s fund humanitarian help in total of 35 million dollars and also sacrificed 2 million dollars of his own money. He founded a medical centre and a chess school for the children of Chernobyl.

Mikhail Tal in the movie “Grandmaster”
It is known that Mikhail Tal possessed a talent of an actor. He acted in a documentary “Seven steps beyond the horizon” 1969, Kiev studio, directed by F.Sobolev and in a feature film “Grandmaster” 1972 Lenfilm directed by Sergey Mikaelian.
