GM Rustam Kasimdzhanov won the preliminary tournament of the World Blitz Championship with 15 points of 22. Other six qualifiers are GMs E.Bacrot, M.Adams, B.Savchenko 14.5, R.Ponomariov, A.Dreev and S.Rublevsky 14. In the finale (November 21-22) they will join eight participants of the finished M.Tal Memorial (V.Ivanchuk, V.Kramnik, P.Leko, Sh. Mamedyarov, A.Shirov, B.Gelfand, G.Kamsky and M.Carlsen) and five invited players: V.Anand, A.Karpov, P.Svidler, A.Morozevich and A.Grischuk. There were five draws in round 9 (from 16 moves in Mamedyarov โ Alekseev to 60 in Ivanchuk โ Kramnik). Final standings: 1. Kramnik 6.5/9; 2. Shirov 5; 3-6. Carlsen, Jakovenko, Leko and Gelfand 4.5; 7-9. Mamedyarov, Kamsky and Ivanchuk 4; 10. Alekseev 3.5. 64 chessplayers took start today in a qualifier for the World blitz Championship finale. About 1450 players of 103 countries took start yesterday in Kemer, the official site of the Championships reports. St. Petersburg chessplayers Anna Styazhkina G10, Kirill Alekseenko B10, Aleksey Goganov B16 and IM Daniil Lintchevski B18 won their round 1 games.

An opening ceremony of WYCC 2007 U8-U18 (November 17th-29th) will take place tomorrow in Kemer, Turkey. There will be about 60 players from Russia.
