AEROSVIT IN FOROS
A big chess tournament starts tomorrow in Foros, Ukraine. There are 12 participants: Ponomariov, Ivanchuk, Grischuk, Shirov, Mamedyarov, Nisipeanu, Rublevsky, Harikrishna, Bologan, Karjakin, Volokitin and Areschenko. The tournament ends on June 28.

In the last round Alekseev defeated Yevseev, Anisimov def. Orlov, and other games ended peacefully: A.Ivanov-Popov, Yemelin-Vitiugov, Loginov-Zakurdaev, and Solozhenkin-Ionov. Valery Popov becomes the champion of St.Petersburg-2006, Vassily Yemelin gets the silver (both scored 8/11), and Nikita Vitiugov gets the bronze. Evgeny Alekseev also scored 7.5/11, but finished 4th on tiebreak. The rest of the table looks as follows: 5.Pavel Anisimov 6.5, 6.Sergey Ionov 6, 7.Denis Yevseev 5, 8.Vassily Orlov 4.5, 9.Alexey Ivanov, 10.Valery Loginov - 4, 11.Evgeny Solozhenkin 3, 12.Mikhail Zakurdaev 2 points.
