Rounds 1-4 September 13-16; rounds 5-8 September 18-21; rounds 9-11 September 23-25; rounds 12-14 September 27-29. Tiebreak games if required: September 30. Tiebreak to decide the title will be played in the case of ties of the following criteria: a) the results of the games between the players involved, b) number of wins in the tournament, c) Sonneborn-Berger score. Time control: 40 moves in 2 hours, followed by 20 moves in one hour, followed by 15 minutes plus 30 seconds for all the remaining moves. For more details read a preview by Mark Crowther.

The first round of the most important chess event of this year starts today in Mexico City at 14:00 local time (23:00 Moscow time). The tournament is a category XXI (2752) double round robin with 8 players. Prize fund: US$1.3 million. According to special correspondent of the Russian Chess Federation website in Mexico City M.Savinov, a drawing of lots ceremony this night ranged the players in the following order: 1. V.Kramnik, 2. A.Morozevich, 3. V.Anand, 4. A.Grischuk, 5. P.Leko, 6. B.Gelfand, 7. L.Aronian, 8. P.Svidler. So, round 1 pairs are: Kramnik – Svidler, Morozevich – Aronian, Anand – Gelfand and Grischuk – Leko.
