Petersburg Grandmasters are the champions of Sweden!
The team “Sollentuna” scored their usual victory in the Swedish team championship. Petersburg GMs Sergey Ivanov and Valery Popov played for the winners. Sergey has become the Swedish champion for the sixth time and Valery for the fourth. Our congratulations!

Yesterday in Zafra - the birthplace of the prominent Spanish player of 16th century Ruy Lopez de Segura a chess festival opened which involves an 8 player closed tournament, children’s competitions and also an open tournament where all the games started with the moves 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5. In the first round of the main event R.Ponomariov beat I.Sokolov, G.Sargissian beat Hou Yifan, M.Candelario beat A.Stefanova, the game K.Sasikiran – J.Granda ended in a draw.
