The announcement of our publications
February passed so quickly that we did not have time to publish all materials announced a month ago. We managed to publish a review of the best games, played in January, on the last day of February: the month turned out to be too short and the flights of "Aeroflot-open" diverted our columnist - IM Maxim Notkin - from his work. FIDE Unification Proposal
Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has given an interview to Yuri Vasiliev of Sport Express with a World Championship Unification proposal. The decision was taken at the FIDE Presidential meeting in Tbilisi 26th-27th February 2005.
Eight players will be invited: Rustam Kasimdzanov (Fide champion), Michael Adams (Fide runner-up), Vladimir Kramnik (Braingames champion, a very interesting use of terminology), Peter Leko (Braingames runner-up), Garry Kasparov, Viswanathan Anand, Vaselin Topalov and Alexander Morozevich (the four top rated players).

Moscower Alina Kashlinskaya, 11 years old, who already was a vice-champion of Europe and a champion of Russian among 10-years-old girls, comments a game, which was played in the first league of the Championship of Russia. It should be added that Alina tied with P.Malysheva for the 17th - 29th places (there were 57 participants at that) with the result 5 points of 9 and left behind many of the famous chess players.

The fair sex in the "Closed world"
Today the first in the history video-match between chess players of Moscow and St.Petrsburg begins, which will be carried out with the help of technologies, worked out in the company "Intellectual games". Such titled persons as GMs Ludmila Zaitseva (Moscow) and Irina Sudakova (Petersburg), IMs Radmila Popivoda (Moscow) and Nina Sirotkina (Petersburg)…The chess players will play every Monday and every Wednesday during six months: in micro- and macro-matches the players of different generations. There are rewards for the best participants. We will constantly inform our readers about the course of the competition.

Yesterday V.Korchnoi, who came with his wife in his native city, took part in a demonstration of new technologies, worked up by the company "Intellectual games" specially for realization of the program "Closed world".
Viktor Lvovich was present at the practice games between GMs M.Taimanov and S.Smagin. Our GM played in St.Petrsburg, and the Head of the Petrosian's Chess club - in Moscow.
