XXII friendly match of the two countries, no longer existing, will take place in Moscow on November 8th-9th. Teams consist of eight men and two ladies. Team USSR: V.Korchnoi, Yu.Averbakh, M.Taimanov, E.Vasiukov, Yu.Balashov, I.Zaitsev, V.Vorotnikov, A.Machulsky, L.Zaitseva and E.Fatalibekova. Team Yugoslavia: S.Gligoric, B.Ivkov, A.Matanovic, D.Velimirovic, N.Karaklajic, S.Vlahovic, Z.Spasojevic, A.Savic, M.Lazarevic and K.Blagojevic (Jovanovic). The match is devoted to the 50th anniversary of the first friendly match of the teams held in Belgrade in 1956. Of the present competitors, seven played in that match: Korchnoi, Averbakh, Taimanov, Gligoric, Matanovic, Ivkov and Karaklajic. 05.11.2007 Trading in points is prevented at the World Chess Cup
Vice-president of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation Faik Gasanov is appointed Chief Arbiter of the KO World Cup to be held in Khanty-Mansiysk since November 23th. As the 'Trendaz' agency reports, it was him who has dissuaded FIDE President K.Ilyumzhinov from the idea to divide players into groups. 'In case of a group tournament, chessplayers who would lost hopes for the 1st or 2nd place, would organize "sales" after the 5th round already, offering points to persons interested', – thus the international arbiter comments on his position, thinking apparently very high of world leading grandmasters. The World Chess Federation considers the opportunity of bringing a legal suit to the Court Arbitration of Sport in Lausanne against the International Olympic Committee for refusal to include chess in the Olympic programme.
