Announcement of our publications
Soon our readers will have an opportunity to read about the competitive results of the supertournament in Sofia (Sergei Ivanov will sum them up), about Alexander Khalifman in the section "Portrait of a chessplayer" (grandmaster Ionov has drawn it). In our editorial office we already have new works of international masters: Dvoretsky, who does not need any epithets, Faibisovich, who penetrates the depths of history, Klimov, who is inclined to research. Science to chess education
A usual competition organized by the "Belaya Ladja" ("White Rook") – the championship among the Russian schools with prizes from the "Sporting Russia" – finished yesterday in Krasnogorsk by a victory of the schhol №3 from Cheliabinsk. 41 teams from different parts of Russia took part in it. Chief of the "Sporting Russia" I.Rodnina, academician L.Abalkin, outstanding trainer M.Dvoretsky, journalist from the TV channel "Sport" grandmaster Mirzoyeva came to the closing... During the ceremony of closing all the 200 players and team trainers were given chess books. These books were prepared by the company "Intellectual Games" from St. Petersburg and published within the framework of the program "Science to chess education" with participation of small scientific companies. Each child received the books "From Chigorin to Kasprov" and "Chess Chronicle of St. Petersburg 1900-2005" as a present. Besides, the representatives of each region was given the "Chess primers", that are very useful to teach the rules and basics of the chess play, to be distributed among the child's institutions. After the closing multiple Olympic champion I.Rodnina acknowledged her indebtedness to all organizations that took part in this publication and handing of the books to the young players of Russia and wished to continue the cooperation. Moreover, our representatives gave several dozens of "Chess primers" to the commission "Chess and Education" to distribute them among institutions for disabled children.
