IM V.Faibisovich takes us on tours of St. Petersburg's districts mentioning places where chess competitions were staged and where the leading chessplayers of the city lived. Seventh tour deals with Kirovsky, Moskovsky, Frunzensky and partly with Krasnoselsky and Nevsky districts.

The International Master Vadim Faibisovich conducts excursions over the regions of Saint Petersburg marking out the places where chess tournaments were held or the leading players of the city lived. The sixth excursion is dedicated to the North East part of the Central region.

A.F.Ilin-Zhenevsky (28.11.1894 – 3.09.1941)
On the 28th of November (the 16th of November in the Old style) there was 110th birthday anniversary of Alexander Fiodorovich Ilin-Zhenevsky, who was an outstanding master and organization of the chess movement, revolutionist, diplomatist, writer, journalist and public figure, the whole life of whom was connected with his native city – Petersburg.

Vadim FAIBISOVICH. A HUNDRED YEARS PASSED.
The 17th of January 1904 is a birthday of the St.Petersburg Chess Assembly, possibly the most successful organization in the history of Russian chess.
But the Assembly didn’t exist for a long time. It worked in name only for 15 years, but in point of fact – only till the beginning of the Great War.

E. Bishard about L. Rudenko
Going along the street of Lensoviet from the metro station Zviozdnaya, one will notice at a secluded corner, which is covered with trees a memorial tablet on the house number 62, with the inscription: “Ludmila Vladimirovna Rudenko, an outstanding chess player, the first Soviet woman’s world champion lived and worked in this house from 1976 till 1986”.

S.Morozov. TEN AND A HALF WEEKS. THE WAR AND THE DEATH OF A.F.ILIN-ZHENEVSKIY.
Precisely 73 days or ten and a half weeks have been living an outstanding chess player and public figure, twice champion of his native city Alexander Fiodorovich Ilin-Zhenevskiy from the beginning day of the Great Patriotic War till his death. His wife Taisia Aleksandrovna, born Viazovskaya outlasted him for four days. She was very talented: danced in the ballet of the Leningrad music-hall, sang, painted, played chess in the final of the city women’s championship in 1940.

Diary of T.A. and A.F. Ilin-Zhenevskiy
The notes were being recorded by Alexander Fiodorovich as well as Taisia Aleksandrovna daily and were suddenly cut short with unfinished phrase on the last page.
