31.10.2006 RUSSIAN SUPERFINAL: MOSCOW, DECEMBER 2-15
The terms and venue of the Russian Superfinal are announced. Peter Svidler, Alexander Morozevich, Sergey Rublevsky, Dmitry Jakovenko, Ernesto Inarkiev, Denis Khismatullin, Sergey Grigoriants, Evgeny Alekseev, Evgeny Tomashevskij, Nikita Vitiugov, Ian Nepomnyaschij and Evgeny Najer will play in Moscow, December 2-15. Ildar Khairullin is the first candidate and will replace any withdrawing player. This will be an 11-round all-play-all. The venue is Central House of Chess Player, Moscow.

Last games of the Chigorin Memorial were played yesterday. Dmitry Bocharov won the main tournament with 7/9. Anton Shomoev, Boris Savchenko, Andrey Rytchagov and Vladimir Belov shared the 2nd-5th places with 6.5. A.Davydov won the U-2300 tournament with 7.5/9.

29.10.2006 SUCCESS OF POLGAR AND MAMEDYAROV, FAILURE OF TOPALOV
Chess festival Essent 2006 came to an end. Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Judit Polgar won the round-robin tournament with 4.5/6. They surpassed former FIDE champion Topalov by two points. Ivan Sokolov finished last with just half a point. Two players shared the first place in the parallell Swiss tournament: Ivan Cheparinov and Jan Werle. Two younger sisters of Mamedyarov also played in the Swiss. Zeinab, WGM, collected 4.5 points, Turkan, WIM, had 4.

28.10.2006 TAL MEMORIAL, NOVEMBER 5-19
The Memorial of Mikhail Tal will take place in Moscow, November 5-19. It will include a blitz tournament and a 20th category round-robin. The lineup for the round-robin: Svidler, Morozevich, Aronian, Leko, Gelfand, Mamedyarov, Shirov, Grischuk, Ponomariov and Carlsen. Karpov and Polgar are expected to participate in the blitz tournament.

While we are still in pain after Zenit St.Petersburg losing to Rubin Kazan 0-3 with Argentinian forward Alejandro Dominguez scoring two goals, another Dominguez, Lenier, won a tournament in Barcelona with excellent score 8 out of 9! In the last round Lenier defeated Vassily Ivanchuk, who finished second with 6.5 points. Russian Oleg Korneev took the third place - 5.5 points.

Penultimate round of the Essent tournament was dark for White pieces - Polgar lost to Mamedyarov, and Sokolov lost to Topalov. Polgar and Mamedyarov have 3.5 points before the last round, Topalov has 2.5 points, Sokolov has half a point. Tomorrow Topalov plays Polgar, and Mamedyarov meets Sokolov.
