22.05.2006 WORLD CHESS OLYMPIAD
Started yesterday in Turin, Italy. Russian Men's team (Grischuk, Morozevich, Bareev and Rublevsky) swept Kazakhstan 4-0, and Russian Women's team (Kosteniuk and Kosintseva sisters) beaten Portugal 3-0. Today our men meet Latvia, and women play against Kazakhstan. 35 out of 149 men's team and 42 out of 108 women's team started the Olympiad with perfect score.

22.05.2006 TOPALOV WINS AGAIN
4 wins in a row allowed Veselin Topalov winning the MTel Masters tournament in Sofia for the second time. He scored 6.5 put of 10. Gata Kamsky drew with Peter Svidler in the last round, and finished second with 6 points. Vishy Anand failed to convert a two-pawn advantage over Ruslan Ponomariov, and took the third with 5.5 points. Svilder has 5, Bacrot and Ponomariov have both 3.5.

Sirotkina left the tournament, forfeiting to Gromova (and to Soloviova in the last round).
